Community Connection Week

At GHS, we love connecting with our community in N Michigan. But it is equally as important to nurture the community within our walls. So as we start 2nd semester, remember that the first weeks of 2nd semester is our Community Connection period. Because you are with a new group of students in your courses, it’s important to take time to settle in and get to know one another. And as part of building community with your new classmates, we do not allow passes to work in common areas, hallways, or other classrooms for the first two weeks of every semester.

This week is an opportunity to establish trust, set shared expectations, and develop relationships that will carry you through GHS.

2nd Semester Class Schedules

Hey GHS! Your second-semester class schedules are ready!

If you would like a sneak peek at them before Monday, please log into your PowerSchool account and change the semester to "Semester 2".

On Monday morning, you will receive a printout of your second-semester schedule. Please read the whiteboard when you walk into GHS, to navigate which classroom you go to for your grade level schedules. You will have all new classes and new electives on Monday. Keep your printed schedule close by until you remember your new routine.

If you have any schedule questions from now until next week, please email them to me.

Thank you, all!

- Sarah Gamelin, GHS School Counselor

Father Fred Volunteer Opportunity

Father Fred has an upcoming fun, flexible, family-friendly volunteer opportunity to share. This February, Father Fred will be kicking off its Frostbite Food Drive. This is their biggest, most engaging drive of the year, and it helps keep our pantry stocked for our many regional guests/families. The food drive will take place over the course of 9 days (Saturday Feb. 7th-Sunday Feb. 15th) at 8 store locations throughout Traverse City. At each store's entrance (indoors), there will be a booth for at least 2 volunteers greet customers, hand out "wish lists" and brochures, and consolidate incoming donations. Volunteers are needed from 10am-6pm each day, and shifts are broken up into 2-hour stretches to accommodate a variety of schedules.

Please note that they do ask minor volunteers to be accompanied by a guardian/adult.
