It's Counselor Appreciation Week! Show Sarah some love & say thanks for all she does for GHS!

If you would like to meet with our wonderful counselor, Sarah, please let your teacher know. Your teacher will call Sarah’s office to check if she is available at a time that works for you to be out of class.

If she is available, your teacher will give you a hall pass to go to her office. If she is not available, you should email Sarah to schedule an appointment. When it’s time for your appointment, Sarah will call you out of class. Please do not leave class until Sarah calls for you, so you know she is ready for you (sometimes unexpected things do come up!)

Father Fred Volunteer Opportunity

Father Fred has an upcoming fun, flexible, family-friendly volunteer opportunity to share. This February, Father Fred will be kicking off its Frostbite Food Drive. This is their biggest, most engaging drive of the year, and it helps keep our pantry stocked for our many regional guests/families. The food drive will take place over the course of 9 days (Saturday Feb. 7th-Sunday Feb. 15th) at 8 store locations throughout Traverse City. At each store's entrance (indoors), there will be a booth for at least 2 volunteers greet customers, hand out "wish lists" and brochures, and consolidate incoming donations. Volunteers are needed from 10am-6pm each day, and shifts are broken up into 2-hour stretches to accommodate a variety of schedules.

Please note that they do ask minor volunteers to be accompanied by a guardian/adult.

Supporting Greenspire

Dear Greenspire Community,

As we continue to grow together and provide transformative educational experiences for our students, I want to take a moment to share an important reminder about how The Greenspire School operates — and how critical your support is to our success.

As a public charter school, Greenspire is tuition-free and open to all students, just like traditional public schools. However, we do not receive the same level of funding that many district schools receive. While we do get public dollars based on student enrollment, that funding often falls short of covering all of the innovative programs, hands-on learning experiences, community partnerships, and environmental education we are so proud to offer.

Despite these challenges, we continue to prioritize meaningful, student-centered learning that is:

  • Project-based and environmentally focused, connecting students deeply with community and nature.

  • Experiential and relevant, empowering students to explore real-world applications of academics.

  • Purposeful and inclusive, fostering confident learners who engage thoughtfully with their world.

To maintain—and expand—these opportunities while remaining tuition-free, we rely on the generosity of families, alumni, and community supporters. Your donation, of any amount, directly impacts our ability to provide rich academic and experiential learning for every student.

Please consider making a gift today

Every gift matters—thank you for investing in the future of learning, leadership, and stewardship here at Greenspire.
